B.E. or not to B.E.

this is my title. there was a reason behind this. after 4 excruciating years i finally got a new prefix of B.E. to my name. "tu engineer bannaar ki doctor???" was the most common question i have faced in my childhood. in my early days my mind did swing to other professions too. but ultimately after my dad convinced me that this the best thing i could do i finally landed in engineering and ofcourse in the electronics and telecomm field which was also of my choice. the journey of becoming an engineer drained me out at the exterior but all that energy lost i guess was invested in making me a totally different person. sounds so perfect. a person got what he always wantd to have ofcourse he had to go through many pains but at the end of everything he got it. what next MBA, MS, PhD..... i have thought once twice thrice the answer is MBA ... "MBA" Master in "Business" Administration... woah helloooo .... that rings a bell in my mind ... to learn about business was it necessary for me to be a B.E. ??? i gave 8 pressurising semesters ... compromised on my young days ... mugged round about 10000 pages in the entire process ... had sleepless nights ... took shit from 40 professors ... sometimes had lunch at 5 in the evening... wrote down 4000 pages of senseless stuff ... got depressed after a not so deserving KT ... just to know 1 day im going to do a masters in "business admin"... sure the only person who u can call a fool in this case is me ... a typical engineer will argue ... "we engineers are prepared for a tough life ahead ... we can handle high pressure situation ... we are used to it ... give us anything and we can do it"... the part about handling high pressure situations is very true ... becoz i myself can bet on this thing if any other graduation course can make u so mentally fit ... and make u perform and smile even if u are almost about to cry ... to make u laugh about the most serious situation and care a damn about it . .............. but this just cannot mean that they can do anything in life ... i strongly argue does mentally fit mean you are a good speaker, a good presenter, know how to get things done out of people, naturally born to do any thing in this world after u have done this degree, go with ur head held high with complete arogance as if ur superior than any other person around ... a non-engineering graduate is sure to support my point ... bcoz they are the people who get really frustrated with this attitude ... they think that we think no ends of ourself ... and in a way they are right ... dont they deserve the respect to choose a field that they liked or about choosing a path which they chose willingly ... just bcoz u chose a geeky field the one's who have fun are called idiots ... they opted for it and are happy with it ... u think these people cannot handle pressure... if thrown in a well who wont learn to swim??? today the world is asking for a hollistic approach ... coming back to my main point ... looking back i really am left in doubt as of why i chose to be a B.E. ... not that i am against any of my mates ... but sitting down and pondering over it i come to a conclusion as of a person must do a B.E. only if he is hell bent on the technical industry regardless of if he is to do an MBA or an MS ..PhD laterr....and ofcourse maintain a respectful approach towards the world ... the conclusion might sound obvious to a few ... but in the indian society it really needs to be given a thought ... how important a B.E. was to me only time will tell ... but i vow to respect every person who is not a B.E. for what they decided and what they do ... not only say but actually do it ...

EGO -- My biggest enemy

Set to achieve my dream
I chose the engineering stream
The earlier failures had proved to be a sty
This time i kept my goals high
To fight my insecurities i developed a shield
But down in my heart it was a complex field
The shield - the 1 of an inflated ego
A sure recipe for another failure
Went with a mindset that id knew everything
Didn't want to think if id knew anything
The initial semesters gave me a taste of it all
The pit I had dug for myself stared at me appalled

I knew had taken the wrong turns
But was too scared to admit that one
Till i got a smack on my face
A KT - the big mistake
Made me realize all it takes

I had enough of the cover i created
Rethought my plans frustrated
This time it was a new me
Wanted my ambitions to really go free
So with this new practical approach
I found back my lost touch
Success i indeed realized
And i was left mesmerized
In this entire internal fight
I learned the meaning of life
Henceforth failure ought to come some day my way
But id be knowing which way to sway

Mr. Newton here's ur nth proof

Sir Isaac Newton had famously stated "every action has a equal and opposite reaction". Seems like a pretty easy to digest statement considering a real time scenario. But indeed it so relative that it can also be related to the recent acts of terrorism. In 93' the bombers struck for the first time with thoughts of revenge, justice and causing intentional terror. It happened again in 06' and yet again in 08' with kind of the same reasons and much more bullshit added to it. In 93' there was a reaction of frustraton and that of "religious violence" which was indeed totally uncalled for. In 06' learning from the mistakes of 93' people were more sensible and there was a reaction of grief, that of being terrorised, a kind of a set back in an individuals mind that if he is safe enough to even walk in the city of dreams. Both these reactions leading to not much of a difference in the political circles except for some statements flying in the air. Come Nov 26 08' the terrorists struck again, this time the much called "unprecedented" attack. Rightly called as unlike before it struck all parts of the indian society and a certain important parts of the world at the same time. It would be rude to say that earlier the rich were not at all affected by these activities. But it was this time that the actually felt the pinch of it. And for this unprecedented action there had to be an unprecedented reaction. The lone voice of the common man which was being ignored got an uplift with the elite, celebrities and media joining in the understandable lambasting of the authorities. The events conducted to pay homage to the victims got a unanimous support. Muslim groups themselves came to the forefront in huge numbers to condemn these unacceptable acts of terrorism in the name of islam. 'Islam does not allow killing of innocent people' were the slogans they were shouting. Shah Rukh Khan recently stated 'which islam are they following islam of the allah or islam of the mullah'. All these reactions clearly stating that we are not going to let our religion get abused because of all you a*******. the poilitical front also saw resignations of prominent people. This gave a ray of hope that they have realised that there is no free lunch for them either. The silent, diplomatic politician started to make noise, one my favourites is of our foreign minister Pranab Mukherjee's statement - 'did the non-state actors come from heaven or from outer space, they were operating from the land of a certain country".It also saw the super powers also putting the much needed pressure on the issue also because they themselves are feeling the heat of it. One of the positives from these last attack could be taken that now that everybody is affected be ready to face a reaction from everybody. Coming back to Mr. Newton, he could only be smiling up there not because of the action but definately because of the reaction that he had stated.

Lets join hands to save the world from these anti-social acts which are as serious as global warming. Also a hope would be that there be a proper channelisation of the entire energy that has arised from these current events. A special thanks to the armed forces who put their lives in the line of fire to save our lives. Let us give our politicians some support and trust because nothing in the world can work without that.
